This is meant to be a self help guide to posting events /gigs on Htown.
Note: You'll piss people off if you spam up the forums with multiple threads.
This is here because you may be a good musician or know how to run a bar, but you're pretty shit on the computer. I hope this helps.
You'll be armed with knowledge of how to post a news item on the front page & an event in the events section.

Let's start with EVENTS.

Down the right hand side of the screen you'll notice a menu, like below.

Click on Events. (Makes sense so far right?)

Now you should see "Submit New Events"

Note: If you don't have this option you need to PM Drift (see Private Messages at bottom of this page). He will bump your user level up if you are not a complete asshat or pissant. Be aware, you may need to sell your soul.

Fill in the event details.



Note: It's a 24 hr clock.

You can add a link within the body of the text.
The stuff in the square brackets is to provide a link to the bands home page. It's not compulsory, but it's handy to link to the band's webpage, or a complimentary review.

...where when & how much.

Click on submit

The event requires validation (as per the red arrow)

Note if yo can handle this, you can now do NEWS as well.



To make your listing more visually appealing you may like to add a picture (note this works for news/events/forums).

To embed an image, use the same brackets as shown as below.
Just make sure the image linked to is no wider than about 420 pixels.
The image can be linked from ANOTHER SITE or through linking to an image loaded in "MY FILES".

Then right click & copy the properties (file location) to insert in between.

If you haven't discovered it yet, there is an option up the top left of the HomePage for Private Messages

Great for asking for help or arranging hookups.

2.Send the details of your gig, at least a week or two in advance, to Nexus for their events guide: nexus @ waikato.ac.nz

3. Send gig details to ent @ waikatotimes.co.nz

4. Send gig details to contact @ contactfm.co.nz to get displayed on the Contact 88.1FM website's WSU gig guide (and also broadcasted on the WSU gig guide at 9AM, 1PM and 5PM every day).

5. Post it on the Hamilton Community Arts Council's "What's On" page: http://www.hcac.org.nz/page/hcac_11.php

6. Advertise events on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/), MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/) and Bebo (http://www.bebo.com/)

7. You can send a web-friendly version of the poster to petrajane @ gmail.com and it might get a plug on http://www.petrajane.com/

8. Send details to listings @ cheeseontoast.co.nz

9. Send details to info @ grooveguide.co.nz

10. Post details to http://www.muzic.net.nz/gigs/

11. Contact Radio Network (trn.waikato @ radionetwork.co.nz) and Radio Works (Phone (07) 838 2693) and they should announce your gig for free.
